IMO what will get from "learning math through programming" are some "pop-sci" ideas about a few areas of math like number theory, dynamical systems (e.g. chaos and fractals), graph theory, etc. Interesting though that might be, it's not the math you need for physics or engineering - at least, not until you get to grad school level physics. This website is a highly interactive site geared to children ages 12 and under. It includes a math art gallery, Microworlds and Logo programming and math questions on a "magic chalkboard." The site also features a teacher section (click on "Site Map and Info") where teachers can get and share ideas for teaching math.

Volume 3: Beyond Programming introduces undergraduate-level computer science topics: automata theory, discrete mathematics, algorithms, programming language design and compilation, and artificial intelligence.

The ideas are illustrated with concrete Logo programs, such as a Pascal compiler, written in Logo, that compiles into a simple assembly. This book presents a LOGO-based curriculum for teaching functions and equations, and logic.

The teaching sequences also show teachers the rich mathematical and pedagogical possibilities inherent in LOGO. The concepts of computer programming form a Authors: Joan Lukas, George Lukas.

These original essays summarize a decade of fruitful research and curriculum development using the LISP-derived language Logo. They discuss a range of issues in the areas of curriculum, learning, and mathematics, illustrating the ways in which Logo continues to provide a rich learning environment, one that allows pupil autonomy within challenging mathematical Format: Hardcover.

The interactive program does this through the normal methods of questioning, assessing and prompting the student on the various aspects of the diagram, with the student using both textual (through the keyboard) and positional (through the cursor) input when answering.

Through programming, children use the computer's terrific power to draw graphics, design animation, solve mathematical or word puzzles, and even build robots. It is essential to use programming environments like Logo or Scratch that have been specially designed with "learning" in /5(2).
